A heavily armed team of terrorists and Pakistani troops ambushed an Indian patrol along the Line of Control (LoC) in the Poonch Sector and killed Five Indian Soldiers. This once again depicts the relationship between Pakistan Soldiers and militants. Indian would not be cowed down by the “deceitful” killings of its soldiers. It was really blatant acts of deceit and puts a question mark on Pakistan Govt’s overtures to India for improving ties. These incidents don’t help efforts to normalise or even improve relation with Pakistan and will affect the normalization of ties between the two nations. Such incident would affect the dialogue process. People will not want their soldiers keep on dying and our country keep on talking about friendship. If Pakistan wants better relations with India then this is certainly not a way and the hand of friendship cannot be extended from one side only.
The main aim of Pakistan to open unprovoked firing and ceasefire violation just to push heavily armed militants in Indian Territory. In this attack, Let militant accompanied with Pakistan soldiers took advantage of the weather conditions and topography of the area to sneak across the LoC & laid an ambush. This is the second biggest attack in Poonch in a year, after the January 8 beheading incident that had triggered a series of skirmishes along the LoC. Till date Pakistan has already violated the border ceasefire over 33 times. India should react back strongly; merely lodging a strong protest with the Pakistan government through diplomatic channel will not solve the purpose.
On the other hand, Pakistan as usual had launched his propaganda and denied the allegation that no Pakistani Soldiers were involved in this ambush. India always remained committed to the ceasefire agreement since 2003 as a Confidence Building Measures (CBMs) between two nations but Pakistan violated it often. It seems that Pakistan is committed to a destructive, unsustained and failure-oriented process of engagement with India and such attitude will not go a long way to maintain healthy relations between them. It is important for Pakistan to make serious efforts in maintaining the positive atmosphere and avoid negative propaganda. It is clearly established that the Border Action Team (BAT), which carried out the attack in Pakistan Army uniform after intruding about half a kilometre inside the Indian Territory returned to their camp at Gurand in Pakistan occupied Kashmir (PoK) from where they had set in for the attack with active connivance of 801 Mujahid Regiment of Pakistan including some Commandos of Special Group (SSG). The plot to execute the killing hatched at Kathak Govt. School falling between Mandola and Dera Sher Khan Villages opposite Chakan-da-Bagh during the visit of LeT and JuD chief Hafiz Sayed. Pakistan army commandos and militants of LeT & JuM outfit made a plan to attack after reccee of the Area. The attack on Army was planned in a bid to demoralize the troops, who had not allowed any infiltration attempt of militants.
The killing of Indian Soldiers by Pakistan has evoked wide spread condemnation not only from the people of J&K but nation as a whole. Pakistan has been now fully exposed for promoting terrorism on its soil and sending armed desperados to India for indulging in terrorist’s violence and doesn’t deserve any friendly treatment. On one side, the Prime Minister of Pakistan has taken an initiative of peace talks with India and on the other, the Pakistan continues sending militants for propagating violence in Jammu & Kashmir. The Govt. should come out with a clear cut and firm response to Pakistan’s attack which has become a routine affair. Militants are resorting to Hi-etch methods of Warfare and communication, India’s preparedness needs to fast catch up.
