Situation Improved In J&K

The security situation in the Kashmir valley has shown a remarkable improvement. This can be visualized from the increase in the number of tourists visiting J&K particularly Kashmir from 9 lakhs in 2011 to 13 lakhs in 2012. Moreover, the number of fatalities in incidents of terrorists violence in 2012 declined by nearly half. Various confidence building measures like border management, political will and better relation with Pakistan are responsible for this. In addition, the work of border fencing, roads and flood lighting along the borders with Bangladesh, Pakistan and Myanmar, and construction of additional border outposts along the Pakistan border are also prime factor for restoration of peace in the valley and its adjoining areas.

In order to control the militancy related violence, adequate deployment of Army and Para Military Forces were deployed. Various relief camps and Civic Action Programmes have set up to provide the basic amenities to the affected people. Moreover, various package for relief and rehabilitation have been announced. Road connectivity and Railways network have been started in valley at large scale. Tourism industry has got a fillip and showing a great trend of earning revenue for the state. Recent unfortunate incidents at LOC still fresh but the India was committed to take forward the process of normalization of relations with Pakistan but wanted reciprocity from the other side too. It is also important that Pakistan should abide by its commitments and desists from acts that contribute to the trust deficit. The process of normalization of relation had received a setback last month when Pakistan troops violated ceasefire at LOC and brutally beheaded two soldiers.

Strengthening of Education system, support to Industrialization and strengthening mechanism for bilateral trade and facilitating greater people to people contact are some of steps taken to improve the situation in the entire state. Hopefully within few years complete normalcy could be witnessed again in the Kashmir valley. This scenario cannot be achieved without the support of peace loving Kashmiri people. Day by day state is ushering towards new Era of peace and normalcy.
